Smart Invoice helps Shopify merchants design invoice templates and export invoice PDFs from their store orders. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting the information handled through our app. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
Smart Invoice accesses the following information through Shopify's APIs to provide its features. We only access what is needed to generate and customize your invoices:
- Store information: shop domain, store email, and session data used to authenticate your Shopify account.
- Order and transaction data: order numbers, dates, line items, quantities, prices, taxes, discounts, and fulfillment status.
- Customer details on orders: name, email, phone, and billing/shipping address, where these appear on your invoices.
- Invoice settings you provide: company name, address, logo, and the templates and styles you configure.
We do not collect payment card numbers. Payments for paid plans are handled securely by Shopify's billing system.
How We Use Your Information
- Generate, customize, and export your invoices as PDFs.
- Operate, maintain, and improve the app and its features.
- Authenticate your Shopify session and store your app settings.
- Respond to support requests and communicate with you about the app.
- Comply with our legal obligations.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We only share information in these limited cases:
- Service providers who help us operate the app (such as hosting), under agreements requiring them to protect your data.
- Shopify, as required to run the app, process billing, and meet Shopify's compliance requirements.
- Legal requirements, when disclosure is required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of others.
Data Security
We protect your information using encryption in transit and access controls on our systems. While no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, we take reasonable steps to safeguard the data we handle.
Data Retention
We retain your information only as long as needed to provide the app. When you uninstall Smart Invoice, we delete your store's data in response to Shopify's shop/redact request (sent 48 hours after uninstall), and we delete customer-specific data upon receiving Shopify's customers/redact request.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information. To make a request, contact us at info@smrtinvoice.com. If you are a merchant's customer, please contact the merchant, who controls the data for their store.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and post the updated version on this page.
